It is Day 4 of the Duleep Trophy 2016-17 season as India Red take on India Blue at Greater Noida Sports Complex Ground. Yuvraj Singh’s India Red are coming from a victory in their previous match while Gautam Gambhir and his boys of India Blue are playing their very first match in the Indian domestic tournament.
India Blue have performed well with the bat so far despite frequent interruption in their batting due to rain. Skipper Gambhir, who has been a regular opener for India for a long time in his career, was a sure option to open for India Blue as well while he was well accompanied by Mayank Agarwal. The two gave their team’s scorecard a good boost of runs. Gambhir departed scoring 77. Mayank Agarwal went on to score 92 but remained unlucky not to get his century. They lost their next three wickets rapidly as Baba Aparajith, Suryakumar Yadav and Karn Sharma failed to contribute much. As play commences on Day 4, Dinesh Karthik will bat at 35 with Sheldon Jackson at 48.
Kuldeep Yadav has been clinical with the ball for India Red in the match. The chinaman bowler dismissed four of the opponent batsmen. It was Yadav whose spell did not let the India Blue middle-order contribute majorly while also took a set Mayank Agarwal. Nathu Singh also bagged a wicket while the rest of the bowlers remained wicketless.
