Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni won the toss and chose to bat first in the second and final warm-up game against New Zealand at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
The home side is boosted by the return of batting legend Sachin Tendulkar, who took an injury-induced break following the ODI series against South Africa last month. Tendulkar had a long stint at the nets on Tuesday and also went through the fielding drills, enough to suggest that he is fully fit.
Tendulkar is likely to open the Indian innings with Virender Sehwag, while Gautam Gambhir and makeshift No. 3 batsman Virat Kohli are expected to shift down the order.
India go into the match without pace spearhead Zaheer Khan who is yet to fully recover from a groin strain.
New Zealand had beaten Ireland in their practice opener. They would be looking to give a good account of themselves against India who thrashed them 5-0 in a ODI series a few months ago.
