India Women notched up their second win of Women’s T20 Asia Cup 2018 to top the table with four points. After crushing Malaysia on Sunday, India registered a 66-run win over Thailand at Royal Selangor Club, Kuala Lumpur. Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur’s starred with an all-round display.
Thailand invited India to bat. Mona Meshram opened the batting in Mithali Raj’s absence. Mithali, who slammed 97* on the tournament opener, was rested for this game. Mona scored a patient 32 off 45 balls, whereas Smriti Mandhana breezed to a 22-ball 29.
Pacer Ratanaporn Padunglerd and off-spinner Wongpaka Liengprasert were impressive with the ball claiming figures of 4-0-16-1 and 3-0-16-2 respectively. The Indian innings received a late flourish from Harmanpreet. Her 17-ball 27 not out helped India to a modest 132 for 4 in their 20 overs. Harmanpreet later bowled three overs to take three wickets.

The Thai batters struggled from the start of the innings. They managed to bat throughout the 20 overs, scoring only 66 for 8. The entire innings saw one boundary being struck, that too from opener Naruemol Chaiwai. However, the Thai girls denied any maiden overs to Indian bowlers. Deepti Sharma bowled tight lines and bagged two wickets.
In the other game, Bangladesh Women, who lost to Sri Lanka on Sunday, beat their Pakistani counterparts comfortably by seven wickets.
