India Under-19 fitness trainer Rajesh Sawant found dead in South Mumbai hotel

Indian U-19 physical fitness trainer Rajesh Sawant was found dead in the hotel room early on Sunday morning.

There was sad news in store for the Indian Under-19 side, which were gearing up to take on England Under-19 in first One-Day International (ODI) at Wankhede, Mumbai. Indian U-19 physical fitness trainer Rajesh Sawant, 40, was found dead in the hotel room early on Sunday morning reportedly passed out due to cardiac arrest. The private hotel is located in the high-end area of Mumbai i.e. South Mumbai. Sawant is known to be one of the best professional trainers in the domestic circuit in India. He works with various age-group teams in India, was also the team trainer for Afghanistan. He had earlier worked with the Indian A side that took on England in two warm-up games played at Brabourne Stadium. England U19 to tour India in 2017

As quoted by Sportstar, Amitabh Choudhary, BCCI joint secretary said,”What I have gathered so far is he did not report for team activities in the morning, so people started looking for him and eventually he was found to have been passed away in his room,” He further added that he spoke with Prof Ratnakar Shetty about the same and asked him to keep Choudhary informed about any happenings.  “I have asked Prof. Shetty (Ratnakar Shetty, general manager – game development) to visit the site and keep me updated,” concluded Choudhary.

Sawant was also involved with the Rest of India team that took on Ranji Trophy Champions Gujarat in the recently concluded Irani Cup 2016-17 game at Brabourne Stadium.
