Rookie batsman Joe Burns feels that it’s important to focus on the present rather than think about future as he readies himself for the fourth and final Test against India, starting Tuesday rather than thinking about Australia‘s future international tours including Ashes. “It’s very exciting, the tours that are coming up for Australia. But like I said, you can’t get distracted by external things in cricket. I just want to be contributing for my country in this game and helping the boys to a 3-0 win,” Burns was quoted as saying by website www.news.com.au.

“You just concentrate on your next training session, your next game and make that your most important thing. That’s one thing I’ve learned over the years. You can’t get too far ahead of yourself,” Burns said. Burns said that he wasn’t overawed by his experience of playing a Test match. I felt very comfortable in both innings right up until the point I got out,” he said.

“It’s a good lesson just to give myself more time and really get myself in before going for a more expansive game. That’s probably the biggest difference coming from Shield cricket in Test match cricket, you don’t really get away with that. It is a little bit surreal, but it does feel like any other game. It’s a very familiar set-up with Boof [darren Lehmann] as coach”.

“It does feel very familiar. That’s how I’ve got to approach it. I just have to put everything else to one side, watch the ball that’s coming down and react accordingly,” Burns concluded.
