India produced a strong batting show on the third day, with Cheteshwar Pujara reaching 130 not out and Murali Vijay scoring a 183-ball 82. India need to continue batting the way they did on a docile wicket at the Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) International Stadium to ensure they are in a safer position. For the hosts, Pujara and Wriddhiman Saha will hold the key, as they batted well towards the end of the final session and brought down Australia’s lead in to double digits.
For Australia, Pat Cummins has been the pick among the bowlers so far with 4 for 59 off his 25 overs. The wicket has been a haven for the batsmen and bowlers have found it extremely tough to take wickets. The visitors will want to knock off the remaining four Indian batsmen and obtain a lead which will help them push towards a possible victory.
