Phil Hughes managed to break free after a scratchy start as Australia consolidated their position reaching 113 for one in 22 overs against India in the second One-Day International on Wednesday. Aaron Finch — the only batsman dismissed so far was run-out for 50. Hugehs is batting on 40 and Shane Watson is on 21.
After a sedate start, Phil Hughes continued to be cautious while Finch started attacking the bowlers. He threw is bat at almost anything in his arc. He even completed his half-century with a six over mid-wicket. After that six, he played a ball softly to mid-off and attempted a sharp single. But Raina was quick to react and his throw was accurate.
Hughes could have been caught at mid-wicket but Bhuvneshwar Kumar on the fence couldn’t judge a catch and the ball sailed over him for a six.
The opening partnership was threatening India but the run-out has given an opening for the men in Blue to strike back.
On a pitch which had assistance for the fast bowlers, George Bailey won the toss and chose to bat. Both teams went with the same team they played in the first ODI.
