With a thrilling eight-run win over Australia in the 2nd ODI at Nagpur, India registered their 500th ODI win, becoming only the second team after Australia to reach the landmark of 500 ODI wins.
While India may have played the most ODIs in the history of the game with 963 matches, their win percentage is the third best (54.65) among top-flight teams.
Australia has registered 558 wins in 924 matches with a win percentage of 63.20 while South Africa with 374 wins in 606 matches have a win percentage of 63.89.
Pakistan is third on the list of most wins with 479 wins in 907 matches and have a win percentage of 54.39.

India played their first ODI against England at Leeds on July 13 1974 under the captaincy of Ajit Wadekar, losing the match by four wickets.
Their first-ever win in ODIs came in the 1975 World Cup against East Africa, by ten wickets. Madan Lal claimed 3/15 in the match while Sunil Gavaskar and Farokh Engineer scored 65* and 54*, respectively.
Their 100th ODI win came in 1993 against South Africa under the leadership of Mohammed Azharuddin. Their 200th was against Kenya in 2000 under Sourav Ganguly, while Rahul Dravid led India in their 300th win against the West Indies in 2007. In 2012, under MS Dhoni, India beat Sri Lanka in 2012 for their 400th win.
Virat Kohli now joins the proud list as the Indian captain who led the team in their 500th win, and fittingly enough hit his 40th ODI hundred and walked away with the Man-of-the-Match award.
