Rohit Sharma hit his third One-Day International hundred to put India on course for a historic chase in the second ODI against Australia at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur. India are 294 for one needing another 67.
Rohit is batting on 105 while Virat Kohli is playing a sparkling knock with 69 from 38 balls. This is Rohit’s first century as an opener.
Rohit was steady after completing his half-century as Shikhar Dhawan was going after the bowlers, After Dhawan’s dismissal, No 3 batsman Kohli further launched an onslaught on the bowlers to put India in a dominating position.
Rohit Sharma and Dhawan’s 176-run partnership put India on track for the high scoring chase. Dhawan’s was cautious at the start before going after the bowlers with calculated risks. With five away from his century Dhawan walked down and tried to hit over covers but the outside edge went to Brad Haddin who took it comfortably. He survived twice previously.
India are chasing a mammoth target of 360 after Australia launched an onslaught on the Indian bowlers with all the top five batsmen scoring a half-centuries. George Bailey top-scored with 92 from 50 balls.
