Openers Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma completed their respective half centuries as India reached 128 for no loss in 20 overs. They need another 232 runs in 180 balls.
Rohit completed his half century in 54 balls while, Dhawan did in 55 deliveries. The left-handed Dhawan survived a close stumping earlier.
In the 14th over, he stepped out to hit Xavier Doherty. However, the bowler delivered it flat and Haddin removed the bails in a flash. After thorough observation of different frames, the umpire adjudged him not out.
Earlier, Dhawan was dropped by Brad Haddin. The batsman went for an aerial shot over mid-wicket but the ball bounced more than he would have expected and the ball was in the air for a very long time, yet Haddin misjudged it as the ball popped out of his gloves.
India are chasing a mammoth target of 360 after Australia launched an onslaught on the Indian bowlers with all the top five batsmen scoring a half-centuries. George Bailey top-scored with 92 from 50 balls.
