Despite Prithvi Shaw falling for 29, Manjot Kalra continued his stellar performance in the final of ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup against Australia. The 19-year-old scored his fifty in 47-balls, his second against Australia in the tournament. India need 217 to win their record-fourth U-19 World Cup title. Kalra went all guns blazing against the likes of Lloyd Pope.
Kalra was also the fourth Indian player to score a fifty in a final of U19 World Cup Final. He was joined by Shubman Gill in the middle. At time of publishing this report, India were 117 for 1, needing 101 to win. Australia were bowled out 216.
Jonathan Merlo was the only Australian batsman to survive them and score a half-century while Australia kept on losing wickets at regular intervals. The Indian bowlers bagged the last 6 wickets trading only 30 runs to end Australia’s innings with 2.4 overs still remaining.
