After Day Two’s play of the only Test between India and Bangladesh at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, spinner Mehedi Hasan said captain Mushfiqur Rahim and the senior players in the team have always been supportive towards him. In what was a hammering of the Bangladesh bowlers from Indian batsmen, Mehedi said it was very nice of Mushfiqur to come up to the bowlers even after conceding a lot of runs and encouraging them to do better. India declared their innings at 687 for 6 on Friday, with Murali Vijay and Wriddhiman Saha scoring centuries and skipper Virat Kohli scoring a double-hundred. FULL CRICKET SCORECARD: India vs Bangladesh, one-off Test at Hyderabad

Mehedi also praised senior spinner Taijul Islam. In the press conference, Mehedi mentioned about how Taijul maintained tight line during his spell. He also pointed out the fact that he had not played in the Tests against New Zealand and praised him for him his ability to maintain his momentum since the England Tests. “Taijul bhai bowled really well. He is playing right after the England series. He did not play in New Zealand. I really liked his strong mentality and how he made a smooth comeback into international circuit. He bowled in the right areas, kept the line very tight. During his spell, he got turns and also was successful to beat the batsmen on a few occasions.” LIVE CRICKET UPDATES: India vs Bangladesh one-off Test at Hyderabad

Besides picking up the crucial wickets of Cheteshwar Pujara and Ravichandran Ashwin, Mehedi took a good catch to effect the dismissal of Ajinkya Rahane. Talking about it he said, “The catch will provide me confidence. When India were scoring runs and our bowlers were unable to take wickets for a long time. I thought if I get any opportunity, I will make that count. If there is 50 per cent chance, I will make that 100 per cent. That may be a catch or even a run out. I had set my mentality like that and by the grace of Allah I got such an opportunity.”
