Cheteshwar Pujara has a special liking for the opposition England when he plays at home, ie India. The second hundred of his Test career, which was actually a double hundred, came against the same opposition in Ahmedabad four years back when he smashed an unbeaten 206 to guide India to a win. Later, in the second Test at Mumbai, the Rajkot cricketer scored another hundred (135), albeit in a losing cause. Back to 2016, and the Saurashtra-run-machine has continued to pile on runs against England at home; this time, literally too. The first Test of the five-match series between the two sides is being played at Rajkot; Pujara’s hometown. ALSO READ: Cheteshwar Pujara’s wife, father rejoice after DRS saves him
And the local boy decided to make city’s historic maiden Test special by scoring the 9th Test hundred of his career at his hometown. In attendance were his family members; father Arvind and wife Pujara, friends and relatives besides the citizens of Rajkot who have always showered their love on him. The one-down batsman also had some luck going by his side as he survived and lbw decision with the help of DRS. The happiness in the stands was visible when his wife and father, who is also his coach and mentor, celebrated his survival. Pujara was on 87 then and he went to tea unbeaten on 99.
His hundred finally came after tea. The special knock on a special occasion was bound to get some special comments from the fans. The Twitterverse went gaga over his achievement and congratulated him through their tweets. We bring to you some select tweets here:

3rd century for Pujara against England – most by him against any team. He had made 206* and 135 in 2012-13. Has 2 100s vs NZ. #IndvsEng

And why does that single seem like such a burden from 99? Mercifully for Pujara, the wait is only 15 minutes.

Pujara, 99, plays out a maiden on 227/1. Nothing wrong IMHO, but we should acknowledge that sportsmen are selfish at some point.#INDvENG
