Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli’s partnership has helped India recover in their run-chase of 181 against England in their T20 International at Edgbaston. Both Kohli and Dhawan have attacked the bowling and this has been a counterattacking innings from them after they had lost Ajinkya Rahane early. In eight overs, India are 71 for one.

India had ended the powerplay on 53 for one. Ravi Bopara was then brought into the attack and Kohli opened the face of the bat off the first ball and guided it for a four through third-man. He then strayed on Dhawan’s pads and he was pulled for a four. Bopara then bowled a wide. James Tredwell then came in to bowl the eighth over.

Earlier, England won the toss and chose to bat first. Jason Roy made his debut for England. For India, Ambati Rayudu and Karn Sharma made their T20 International debuts. The captains, MS Dhoni and Eoin Morgan are playing their respective 50th T20 Internationals. Morgan has played a few for Ireland though. Dhoni has played 49 of those as captain. Morgan celebrated the occasion with a brilliant 71 run off 31 balls. That innings helped take England to 180 runs. England smashed 81 runs off the last 10 overs.
