Varun Chakravarthy kept his excellent patch, and took a five-wicket haul in the 3rd T20I against England at Rajkot on January 28. The spinner did not face difficulties in breaking England’s middle order batters.
Varun did not give the visitors any chance to let them have a significant advantage of the 76-run partnership between Jos Buttler and Ben Duckett, as he dismissed Buttler in the 9th over. He followed up with wickets of Jamie Smith, Jamie Overton, Brydon Carse, and Jofra Archer. Varun’s spell finished with numbers of 4-0-24-5.
Varun Chakravarthy creates history
Varun scripted history as he became the quickest Indian bowler to secure two five-wicket hauls in T20I cricket. He achieved this feat after his 16th T20I. Kuldeep Yadav and Bhuvaneshwar Kumar are two other Indian bowlers who have takes two five-wicket hauls in T20Is.
Varun has 29 wickets to his name in the 16 matches he has played so far. The 33-year-old has had an unforgettable time in the Indian team since 2021, as he got dropped from the national side after 2021 T20 World Cup.

However, with his success in IPL 2024, Varun returned back to the Indian team, and has performed exceptionally well ever since. He took his maiden five-fer in the tour of South Africa.
