South Africa have scored 53 for no loss in 10 overs of the first One-Day International (ODI) against India at Johannesburg. Hashim Amla is batting on 24 and Quinton de Kock is on 27.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled an over that conceded only one run. He had Amla in a bit of trouble a few times and did well to keep him on strike. Mohit Sharma pitched it short and de Kock pulled him over square-leg for a four. It was a very well controlled shot by de Kock. He then slashed wide and Mohammed Shami dived forward, but it just hit the turf before going into his ground. Off the next ball Amla too edged to cover and Rohit Sharma dived forward, but it too bounced in front of him.
Amla was having a very quiet time as he had scored nine from 16 balls. However, Bhuvneshwar bowled one short and Amla drove it through the off-side for four. He then carted the next ball over square-leg for a massive six. Amla then gets a widish delivery from Mohit and he square-drives it for a four. Mohit then pitched it in de Kock’s half and he drove him beautifully through mid-on for four.
Mohammed Shami came into the attack in the tenth over. He bowled a maiden.
