India vs South Africa: Albie Morkel to replace injured David Wiese, Rilee Rossouw ruled out of ODIs
All-rounder Albie Morkel has been recalled in the South African T20 International (T20I) side as pacer David Wiese is out of the tour with hand fracture. Wiese suffered the injury to his right hand when trying to take a catch off his own bowling during a warm-up match ahead of the Africa T20 Cup. He is required a surgery and it will keep him out of the cricket field for at least six weeks. This injury has opened the door for Albie, who last played for South Africa 18 months back. Meanwhile, middle order batsman Rilee Rossouw has also been ruled out of the entire limited-overs leg of the tour. He continues his recovery from a stress fracture to his foot which he sustained against New Zealand. The South Africa medical team is being careful with him. Rossouw was not set to play the T20s, but expected to take part in the ODI series which is starting from October 11 at Kanpur. His place will be taken by uncapped batsman Khaya Zondo who is a part of the T20 squad. “The medical committee have decided its still too early for him to be pushed at this stage,” South Africa team manager Mohammed Moosajee said. “The plan is to get him to be ready by the end of October.” READ: South Africa have 10 per cent chance to win series vs India: Fanie de Villiers
India are hosting South Africa for four Tests, five ODIs and three T20Is. This is South Africa’s largest tour of India, which will last 72 days. The tour will begin with a T20 practice match in Delhi on Sept, before the first T20I, in Dharamsala, and will end with the final day of the fourth Test in Delhi, on December 7. Dharamsala, Cuttack and Kolkata will host the T20Is, Kanpur, Indore, Rajkot, Chennai and Mumbai host the five ODIs The Tests will be played at Mohali (November 5-9), Bangalore (November 14-18), Nagpur (November 25-29) and the concluding match of the tour at Delhi from December 3 to 7).
