India vs Sri Lanka, 3rd Test: Sadeera Samarawickrama not to take field on Day 2

Sadeera Samarawickrama has been ruled out of participation on Day 2 of the third and final Test between India and Sri Lanka. Samarawickrama on the opening day got hit on the helmet by a Murali Vijay shot. He was taken for a CT scan and declared fit in the same evening.

The Sri Lankan management as a precautionary measurement has decided to not field Samarawickrama. Sri Lanka’s team manager, Asanka Gurusinha speaking to Cricbuzz said:  “Sadeera is not taking any part at all in today’s proceedings. He has got mild concussion. There’s a protocol in place when a player gets hit on the head and we are following that. We will take a call after taking him to the doctors at close of play.”

Samarawickrama was hit in his ribs in the Nagpur that saw him leave the field. Scan reveled that his ribs did not take much damage. So far on this tour he has managed just 36 runs in 4 innings.
