Team India created world record, becoming the first team to post most 300-plus totals in ODIs. During the second ODI against West Indies at Port of Spain on Sunday, India entered the record books by registering a massive total of 310 for the loss of 5 wickets in 43 overs (reduced due to rain). It was the 96th time that India crossed the 300-run mark, surpassing Australia’s tally of 95. India went on to win the match by 105 runs, their 75th win in 96 games where they have scored over 300. It was also highest victory margin for India against West Indies in the Caribbean Islands.
India achieved the feat in a record time as well, with their first 300-plus total coming in the year 1996. Australia, for that matter, registered their maiden 300-plus score way back in 1975. South Africa are placed third with 77 scores in excess of 300 in ODIs, followed by India’s arch-rivals Pakistan (69).
