Mithali Raj and co. are all set to spoil Stafanie Taylor’s 100th ODI outing as they take on West Indies in match 7 of ICC Women’s World Cup 2017. India have been on a roll of late – won the World Cup Qualifiers in a thrilling fashion against South Africa and defeated them once again at their backyard in the quadrangular series ahead of the World Cup. This clash will be available on Hotstar, while the live telecast of the match will be available on Star Sports 1 and Star Sports 1 HD. In West Indies, the live telecast will be available on ESPN Caribbean while the streaming will be shown on ESPNPlay.com.
West Indies, the runners-up from 2013 edition and T20 World Cup 2016 champions, have task on hand. They lost the three-match ODI series against India in November 2016. However, India’s concern then was an unstable opening pair. But India still face problem of plenty as Smriti Mandhana’s comeback has left Deepti Sharma’s spot in fix. Deepti along with Poonam Raut broke several records in the quadrangular series at South Africa. But with Smriti’s return, Deepti might have to play down the order. With Smriti receiving due support from Poonam, skipper Mithali Raj continuing to shackle records and Harmanpreet Kaur’s powerful strokes from her willow, India have strong batting force in place.
India’s fielding was on top with 4 run-outs. Bowlers were also impeccable and Mithali would expect the same all-round show once again.
For West Indies the concerns lie with their batting. Their inability to rotate strike against Australia is also another concern. Stafanie is the only hope to keep the batting glued together. Hayley and Chedean Nation’s valuable contributions will play a vital role for Stafanie. The bowling was sub-par and Stafanie would want to take her time this time during the toss with the right decision favouring her side.
