Virat Kohli added another statistical milestone to his Test career by becoming, after the legendary Sir Don Bradman, the fastest batsman to 24 hundreds in the format.

Kohli’s 24th hundred came in his 123rd Test innings, which is second to the 66 that Bradman needed during an outstanding career for Australia.

From an overnight 72, Kohli moved to three figures on the second morning of the first Test at Rajkot as India took lunch on 506/5 versus West Indies. This also made Kohli the owner of the second-highest number of Test centuries by active cricketers, after Hashim Amla (28) and ahead of Steve Smith (23).

Kohli’s 120* is his 17th Test hundred as captain of India and second versus West Indies. He has four Test centuries in 2018, and at the lunch interval was on 999 Test runs for the year – 280 clear of England captain Joe Root at second place.
