The final warm-up match between India and WICB President’s XI at St Kitts has ended in a draw. WICB President’s XI finished at 223 for 6 and had secured a slender lead before both captains shook hands and called it a day. Off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin finished as India’s best bowler with six wickets to his name in the match, while Jermaine Blackwood with 51top-scored for the hosts in the second innings The other bowlers too had a good outing but India could not force a result despite being in a good position. It was WICB President’s XI, who had won the toss and elected to bat first. They managed to score just 180 in their first innings, courtesy of 41 from Rahkeem Cornwall and 34 from opening batsman John Campbell. Spinners Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja and Amit Mishra shared eight wickets between them with Stuart Binny and Shardul Thakur claiming the other two.
In reply, India put on 364 on the board. Most of the batemen got off to starts, but it was KL Rahul, Virat Kohli and Jadeja, who managed to score fifties. After impressing with the bat, Cornwell picked up a five-wicket haul as well.
In their second innings President’s XI batsmen got off to starts, but the Indian bowlers struck at regular intervals, which put them in a commanding position. Kohli also used part-timers like Murali Vijay and Cheteshwar Pujara, who did a fine job.
