Indian blind cricket team meets Narendra Modi

The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, on Tuesday congratulated India’s Blind cricket team for their victorious journey in the Twenty20 Cricket World Cup.

The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, on Tuesday congratulated India’s Blind cricket team for their victorious journey in the Twenty20 Cricket World Cup. Modi met every member of the team in person to congratulate them for their brilliant run and shared a photo with each member of the team with some lines straight out of his heart for them. He also went on to congratulate their family members, coaches friends and all who supported them. India won the Blind T20 World Cup 2017 on February 12 as they defeated Pakistan in the final match of the tournament. India chased down 198 runs in order to claim the title.

Modi, via his official Twitter handle, shared a photo of him with the team saying, “Had a memorable interaction with our champion cricketers, the winners of the T20 Cricket World Cup for the Blind.” He then went on to share individual pictures the players with him. Lastly, he added two tweets. The first read, “I also congratulate the coaches, parents, friends & teachers of these cricketers who supported them during this unforgettable journey,” and added, “Best wishes to the entire team that won the T-20 Cricket World Cup for the Blind. Keep playing well and making India proud of your game.”

India defeated Pakistan in the final of the Blind World Cup. Pakistan batted first and put up 197 for 8 at the end of their innings. Badar Munir was the highest run-getter of the innings while Ketan Patel and Mohammad Jaffer both picked up a couple of wickets each. For India, star performer Ajay Kumar Reddy shone with a 43 off 31. India lost their first wicket after 10 overs and chased the runs with 2.2 overs still remaining.
