Former Indian captains and current Test skipper, Virat Kohli remembered the nation’s most challenging war against Pakistan in which a lot of soldiers died to ensure victory of the country. Team India’s current head coach, Anil Kumble along with former Indian skipper and swashbuckling opener, Virender Sehwag and current captain of India’s women’s team, Mithali Raj were among the few people from their field who recalled about the historic fight which had taken place at Kargil in 1999. 17 years have gone by since the epic battle which took place in the Kargil district of Kashmir wherein many soldiers had to sacrifice their lives for the sake of the country. These cricketers mentioned and saluted their spirits and hardships.
We prayed for them & felt proud of being an Indian. To the soldiers & their families, you are the real heroes of India #JaiHind (2/2)

India’s women’s team skipper also showed her tribute to the martyrs from the epic battle. She also shared her feelings of the war on Facebook and posted a picture from the war. The efforts of such cricketers speaks volumes of how much they are attached to the country and are exemplary not only on the field but off the field as well. The players not only remembered the soldiers but also mentioned them as ‘real heroes’ of the country because of whom the country lives at peace.
India’s men’s team is currently in West Indies for a four-Test series and have a 1-0 lead in the series by winning the series opener at Antigua by an innings and 92 runs. Kohli stood for his nation in that match to with a timely double hundred and this was Kumble’s first match as the coach of Indian cricket team.
