KXIP go past Mumbai Indians and guess what? Another run out. Rajpoot is gone. OUT! Ankit Rajpoot run out (Tim Southee-Moeen Ali) 1 (5). This is KXIP’s joint second-lowest score. They had scored 88 all-out against RCB in 2015.

Another run out. Mindless from KXIP. This time it is Mohit Sharma.

OUT! Mohit Sharma run out (de Villiers-Moeen Ali) 3 (5)
  • 9:06 PM IST

Finch greets Moeen Ali with a six. That was a bad ball. A rank-bad short ball. Goes for the similar region later in the over and find Kohli at deep midwicket. Good captaincy. Kohli stationed himself at that region for this catch.

Aaron Finch c Virat Kohli b Moeen Ali 26 (23)

More miseries for KXIP. Ashwin is run out the first ball. Good throw by substitute Pawan Negi and Parthiv does the rest. Well, Parthiv’s keeping beats Ashwin’s running. Both don’t have a great reputation.

Ravichandran Ashwin run out (Pawan Negi/Parthiv Patel) 0 (1)

Andrew Tye falls for 0. Umesh strikes in his second spell.

    Andrew Tye c Parthiv Patel b U Yadav 0 (3)

A yorker-length ball that was a googly. Stoinis is castled.

Umesh now finally gets Gayle. One smash over off-side for a boundary and now he mis-hits the wild slog and find the deep midwicket. Some serious trouble for KXIP.

OUT! Chris Gayle c Mohammed Siraj b Umesh Yadav 18 (14)

Siraj strikes now. Karun Nair finds the slip.

OUT! Karun Nair c Virat Kohli b Mohammed Siraj 1(3)

Powerplay ends and KXIP are 47 for 3.

  • 8:23 PM IST

Umesh strikes finally. KXIP runs out of luck. Rahul pulls it straight to Colin de Grandhomme at deep square leg. Not a good news for the huge mass who have Rahul in their fantasy league teams.

OUT! KL Rahul c Colin de Grandhomme b Umesh Yadav 21(15)
  • 8:15 PM IST

Rahul continues to connect his pulls for sixes but RCB have bowled well. Umesh has Gayle in serious trouble. Does not give away any width and bowls with venom. Southee gives slightly more width to Gayle at the start of the fourth over and the Jamaican smacks it past cover for four.

  • 8:05 PM IST

Eventful first over. Umesh gets the ball to swing a lot. He has Gayle in trouble. He finally gets Gayle’s edge but Parthiv drops one behind the stumps. Not a very difficult catch by wicketkeeper’s standards. Has Parthiv dropped the game? Good start from RCB. KXIP are 1 for 0.

  • 8:00 PM IST

Umesh Yadav to open the bowling. KL Rahul and Chris Gayle will face their former side. If RCB lose this, the playoff doors are shut on them.

Kings XI Punjab vs Royal Challengers Bangalore Updates: Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s coverage of the VIVO IPL 2018. We head to Match 48 where Punjab host Bangalore at Holkar Stadium, Indore.  The match will be played at KXIP’s second home ground; wherein they have won 2 out of 3 games so far in this edition. KXIP are just ahead of RCB in terms of overall win; 12 wins out of 21. This will be KXIP’s final home encounter of the season as well.

Talking about the playoffs, KXIP need to win all their remaining games to ensure qualification. Tie against RCB will be crucial as they are next to face Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals respectively. RCB managed to beat KXIP by 4 wickets at M.Chinnaswammy Stadium, earlier in the tournament, in the reverse tie. In addition, RCB are also coming on the back of a spirited victory over Delhi Daredevils (DD). Meanwhile, KXIP are coming off a comprehensive defeat against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in a high-scoring encounter.

KXIP will be eager to notch up a win and strengthen qualification chances. The pressure will, however, be on them as they began their IPL campaign well. The situation has become much more intense as we head into the business end of the league stages. With only two spots up for grabs, expect another mouth-watering contest and some big hits for the audiences due to the presence of Chris Gayle, KL Rahul, Aaron Finch, Karun Nair, Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, Moeen Ali etc.
