Chennai Super Kings (CSK) move to the top in the points table with a 13-run victory over Delhi Daredevils (DD) in Match 30 of VIVO IPL 2018. In pursuit of 212, DD were kept in the hunt courtesy Rishabh Pant and Vijay Shankar’s valiant knocks, but the top-order’s minimal contribution led to their downfall. CSK’s victory was set up by onslaughts from Shane Watson, MS Dhoni and Ambati Rayudu. In the post-match conference, skipper Dhoni revealed how bad is his back, about Ambati Rayudu’s demotion and few areas to work upon.
Why you do this to yourself, Mahi?
“Back is bad but nothing much can be done. I have not been training much because of it. There is a bit of pain but I think I will manage,” stated Dhoni.
Faf brought in due to a tinge of grass on the surface?
“It is very important for us to get a good platform and then I can promote myself up the order. Looking at the wicket we thought we needed an overseas batsmen. With Faf (du Plessis) opening and Rayudu it gives more stability to the batting order. Rayudu can bat anywhere in the order and he is keen to take any responsibility,” added Dhoni.
Dhoni always has an eye on the future. He doesn’t mince his words too.
“Lungi (Ngidi) has impressed me right from the South Africa. If he keeps coming good it will be good for us. Eliminators will be at the small ground and we will have to think about our death bowling. Bowlers have to adapt otherwise we will have to look at other options.,” signed off the skipper.
With this win, CSK are on top. Also, with Dhoni’s blistering 22-ball 51*, he now features in the top five run-getters’ list of the season.
