The Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led Indian cricket team had a strenuous four-hour training session, which included physical as well as nets, at the MA Chidambaram Stadium at Chennai on Monday ahead of their Sri Lanka tour from July 21.

Dhoni reached the city last Friday and the other members of the team are coming in batches.

The camp started in right ernest under the watchful eyes of coach Duncan Fletcher, bowling coach Joe Dawes and fielding coach Trevor Penney.

After a stretching and physical conditioning session, the players assembled for the usual football match that lasted for about a 20 minutes.

Dhoni led one side while Gautam Gambhir captained the other, and had fielding sessions in turns.

Later, the players took to net sessions.

The camp schedule, which was officially slated to be held from 2.30 pm to 7.30 pm, was closed for the day around 6.15 pm itself.
