The Indian women’s cricket team started their Women’s Asia Cup 2022 campaign on a winning note as they defeated Sri Lanka by 41 runs. Jemimah Rodrigues won the ‘PLAYER OF THE MATCH’ award due to a gritty 76 runs inning.
Earlier, Sri Lanka women were in trouble against India in the match of the tournament. They have lost six wickets and need a big partnership to get the win. Harshitha Samarawickrama (26) scored the most runs for his team.
Jemimah Rodrigues (76) scored a wonderful half-century as the Indian women’s cricket team set a target of 151 runs against Sri Lanka women in their first match of the Women’s Asia Cup 2022.
Earlier, India were off to a bad start as they lose Shafali Verma (10) and Smriti Madhana (6) early in the first innings of the match. India women kick off their women’s Asia cup 2022 campaign against Sri Lanka women. India are fresh from a 3-0 ODI series win over England women and start the match as favourites. With players like Smriti Mandhana, Shafali Verma, Harmanpreet Kaur, and Renuka Singh Thakur, they are one of the favourites to win the title.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka women wll have to punch above their weight to get past India. A lot will rest on Sri Lanka women skipper Chamari Attapattu. Sri Lanka women last played in the CWG 2022 and lost all the three games.
