Inter-State Under-16 school tournament to begin in Mumbai on April 14

Ten schools from the country have qualified for the Coca-Cola Cricket Cup Inter-State challenge for the under-16 category to be held in Mumbai from April 14-20.
The opening game would see Mumbai champions Al Barkat Malik MI Engish School taking on Chandigarh’s DAV Senior Secondary School at the PJ Hindu Gymkhana Ground, it was announced at a media conference in Mumbai on Friday

The other schools who have advanced to the inter-state round through the preliminary stage featuring 820 schools across ten states are: Sports College, Lucknow, St. Johns Junior College, Hyderabad, Salwan Boys Senior Secondary school, Delhi, Shreyan Samarpan Vidyalaya, Baroda, AVR E Techno school, Vijayawada, Debinagar KCR Vidyapith, West Bengal, Don Bosco Matriculation HS school, Chennai and Kiddys Corner HS school, Gwalior.
The champion school would win Rs 1 lakh in prize money, while the runner-up would get Rs 70,000.
Twenty-four boys would be picked after the tournament for a week-long clinic to be conducted by coaches of the Cricket India Academy headed by former Test batsman Pravin Amre.

Later, a team would be chosen to play a three-match series against an overseas under-16 team in June.
