Delhi Daredevils (DD) left-arm spinner Pawan Negi, who took four wickets on Tuesday against Rajasthan Royals (RR), expressed that he can be useful with the bat as well though he hasn’t got enough chances to prove.

Delhi Daredevils (DD) left-arm spinner Pawan Negi, who took four wickets on Tuesday against Rajasthan Royals (RR), expressed that he can be useful with the bat as well though he hasn’t got enough chances to prove.
“I do bat well in the middle-order. I can bat well enough to support the batsman at the other end. I hope to perform with the bat as well. I did get to bat in one match, but [I] was run-out,” said Negi referring to the match against Pune Warriors India (PWI) when he was sent up the order to score quick runs.
“I have learnt the most from Viru Bhayyia (Virender Sehwag). I learn from watching the way he plays his shots,” he was quoted as saying in the Indian Premier League official site.
Negi claimed his career best T20 bowling figures 4 for 18 against Rajasthan Royals on Tuesday evening. He was instrumental in breaking the momentum of the Royals by dismissing four batsmen which included Ajinkya Rahane, Shane Watson, Brad Hodge and Ashok Menaria.
Speaking about the strategy involved in his bowling Negi said, “My only plan was to give Dravid a single and attack on the batsman at the other end. Viru bhaiyya had told me that both the batsmen play well through the cover region, so try not to give them a chance to play in that area, and keep the ball back of length.”
Negi cherished the wicket of Shane Watson the most among the four he scalped.
Negi promptly pointed out that pressure to deliver never affected him as captain Virender Sehwag and coach Eric Simmons were very supportive of his bowling.
“He has worked with me lot and he has taught me a quite a few things. And the rest of the supporting staff has also worked hard with me. And our captain, Viru bhaiyya, has also supported me a lot, and because of that I could perform well,” he concluded.
