Chennai Super Kings captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni credited the fine show by his bowlers and superb fielding as the reason for his side’s 13-run win over Pune Warriors in their IPL match.
“Full credit to the bowlers and I hope we continue doing well in their department in the remaining matches. Our fielding was also superb. In the last few matches, fielding let us down. But today we took even some difficult chances,” Dhoni said after the match.
He said taking wickets in the first six overs had also helped his side in winning the match.
“We have not taken wickets early on in our earlier matches. But today was different as we had a few wickets in the first six overs. That has helped us in winning the match,” he said.
“I thought it was important to be aggressive on the field and keep up the energy level. Hope we continue this,” he added.
Asked about the dew factor while defending 164 for five, Dhoni said, “The dew was an issue, the spinners weren’t getting too much turn.”
Pune captain Sourav Ganguly said that his side lacked some big overs to script a win.
“We needed a big over towards the close from which we could get 20-odd runs. But it did not happened. It was a close finish,” he said.
We were in the game but needed an over of 15-20 runs,” he said.
Asked if there was any injury on his shoulder after he fell on the ground awkwardly while going for a catch, Ganguly said, “Shoulder’s alright, landed on my chest actually. It’s all right.” (PTI)
