Paul Marsh, chief of Australian Cricketers Association has said that players should take lessons from Luke Pomerbach’s incident in which an American national Zohal Hamid accused him for molesting her and hitting her fiancé.
“I was shocked when these accusations first arose and there has been a lot of talk that Luke was set up. Who knows what the motivation of the accusers was but I hope it serves as a lesson to all of our players to be very careful about who they associate with,” marsh was quoted as saying to the Sydney Morning Herald.
The CCTV footage showed Luke Pomersbach forcefully inviting himself to Zohal’s room. However, the Royal Challengers Bangalore player claimed innocence in the case.
A defamation suit was filed against Sidhartha Mallya, owner of RCB, by Hamid after he tweeted in the Australian’s defence.
Finally, an out of court settlement took place between the two parties and the case was withdrawn from the court.
“All at the Australian Cricketers Association are hugely relieved that the charges against Luke have been dropped. I know Luke well and I have absolutely no doubt that he is not the type of person to molest or in any way assault a female,” Marsh concluded.
