Stephen Fleming, coach of Chennai Super Kings (CSK), who are ranked sixth in the points table, expressed that winning home matches will be important for the team in the season five of the cash-rich Indian Premier League.
“Away games are always difficult, so I always think that you should defend all your home games. If we win our home matches and would give ourselves a chance in away games, it would go a long way in helping our qualifying,” said Fleming was quoted as saying in the Times of India. Chennai Super Kings have lost their opening game of this season of IPL against the Mumbai Indians at home.
CSK won a thriller in their last away match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) after some blitzkrieg performance by Albie Morkel in the penultimate over.
“Conceding over 200 runs is a concern. But we chased it and that’s a positive. The players are in good spirits,” said Fleming, who also mentioned that IPL 2012 is by far one of the toughest seasons he has ever seen.
The former Kiwis skipper was quick to point out that his team would look to overcome the weakness especially in the bowling department.

CSK have lost two out of the four games they have played so far and will be facing Pune Warriors India (PWI) at Pune on Saturday evening. The two time champions of IPL will aim to continue their winning momentum against PWI.
