DD 134/9 | Overs 20 | Umesh 8*, Kaul 0* OUT! Nadeem 8(9)

Umesh Yadav swings and smacks the ball straight at umpire Simon Taufel. That must have hurt! Shahbaz Nadeem then holes out to long-on to give PWI their ninth wicket and Dinda his second. Pune go on to win the match by 38 runs and push Delhi to the bottom of the points table. Pune haven’t played so badly this season and will feel undone by their 8th-place finish. However, they have signed off with two wins and given themselves a couple of reasons to smile.

Pune win by 38 runs.

DD 128/8 | Overs 19 | Umesh 6*, Nadeem 2* OUT! I Pathan 24(28)

Irfan Pathan goes for the slog against Angelo Mathews’s slower one and finds the fielder at long-on. Six runs come from the over.

Delhi need 48 runs from 6 balls.

DD 122/7 | Overs 18 | I Pathan 24*, Umesh 2*

Bhuvneshwar Kumar finishes his spell with a tidy over, giving away just three runs. Delhi are now surely finishing bottom.

Delhi need 51 runs from 12 balls.

DD 119/7 | Overs 17 | I Pathan 23*, Umesh 0* OUT! CM Gautam 30(23), Morkel 0(1)

Angelo Mathews gets two in two! First, CM Gautam lifts Mathews over mid-wicket, but can only find the fielder on the boundary.  Promising knock comes to an end. Morne Morkel then swings at a full-length delivery and picks out the deep mid-wicket fielder to give Mathews his second.

Delhi need 54 runs from 18 balls.

DD 116/5 | Overs 16 | I Pathan 21*, CM Gautam 29*

CM Gautam drives Yuvraj Singh wide of sweeper-cover for four, before Irfan Pathan gets a mistimed hook to the fine-leg fence for another boundary.

Delhi need 57 runs from 24 balls.

DD 104/5 | Overs 15 | I Pathan 17*, CM Gautam 23*

Ali Murtuza completes his magnificent spell with a four-run over. He finishes with figures of 4-0-16-3. Delhi need 69 runs from 30 balls.

DD 100/5 | Overs 14 | I Pathan 15*, CM Gautam 21*

CM Gautam leans back and plays a late slice wide of point and third-man for four in Ashok Dinda’s third over.

DD 92/5 | Overs 13 | I Pathan 13*, CM Gautam 16*

Yuvraj Singh concedes nine runs in his second over even as Robin Uthappa misses an easy a run-out chance by failing to collect the ball before dislodging the stumps.

DD 83/5 | Overs 12 | I Pathan 8*, CM Gautam 12*

Bhuvneshwar Kumar comes back for another over and CM Gautam chips the swing bowler over fine-leg for six off the last ball of the over to ruin it.

DD 72/5 | Overs 11 | I Pathan 7*, CM Gautam 3*

Ali Murtuza comes back for a third over, but fails to take a wicket this time. Seven runs come from the over, including a boundary for Irfan Pathan.

DD 65/5 | Overs 10 | I Pathan 2*, CM Gautam 1* OUT! Rohrer 7(9)

Ashok Dinda comes in for a second over and dismisses Ben Rohrer off an inside edge. This is now definitely Pune’s game to lose.

DD 62/4 | Overs 9 | Rohrer 6*, I Pathan 1*

Ben Rohrer gets a leg glance through to the fine-leg fence off Angelo Mathews’s first over.

DD 57/4 | Overs 8 | Rohrer 1*, I Pathan 1* OUT! Sehwag 11(10), Chipli 16(18)

Ali Murtuza, who seems to have found Wayne Parnell’s barber, takes a brace in his second over, dismissing Virender Sehwag and Bharat Chipli. Sehwag goes for a similar lofted drive over cover, but finds the fielder at wide long-on this time around. Chipli, then is trapped plumb in front by the left-arm spinner. Murtuza has figures of three for five in two overs.

DD 55/2 | Overs 7 | Chipli 16*, Sehwag 11*

Virender Sehwag opens the face of the bat and lofts Yuvraj Singh over cover and wide of extra-cover for a boundary.

DD 47/2 | Overs 6 | Chipli 14*, Sehwag 5*

Seven runs conceded by Bhuvneshwar Kumar which included a boundary from Virender Sehwag through the covers.

DD 40/2 | Overs 5 |  Chipli 11*, Sehwag 0* OUT! Jayawardene 14 (13)

A tidy over by Ali Murtaza. Robin Uthappa missed an easy stumping of the fourth ball, but Mahela Jayawardene chases a wide one to give a simple catch to Luke Wright. Just three runs and a wicket from the over. Virender Sehwag comes into bat.

DD 37/1 | Overs 4 | Jayawardene 13*, Chipli 11*

Bharat Chipli continues to impress as he cracks a cut through the off in Ashok Dinda’s first over.

DD 33/1 | Overs 3 | Jayawardene 13*, Chipli 7* OUT! Warner 2(5)

David Warner gets a faint edge off Wayne Parnell to the keeper and is given out by the umpire. However, Warner doesn’t think so and curses his way out. Replays showed that there was a definite sound. Bharat Chipli then pulls Parnell over deep square-leg to punish the South African.

DD 17/0 | Overs 2 | Jayawardene 9*, Warner 2*

Mahela Jayawardene continues to time the bowl to perfection, this time coming down the track and chipping Bhuvneshwar Kumar over mid-off for four.

DD 12/0 | Overs 1 | Jayawardene 5*, Warner 1*

Wayne Parnell does not get off to the most ideal of starts as an in-swinging delivery that goes down Mahela Jayawardene’s leg-side and fumbled by Robin Uthappa behind the stumps. The ball runs down to the fence for five wides. Jayawardene then gets some runs of his own with a glorious boundary through mid-wicket.

PWI 172/5 | Overs 20 | Mathews 30*, Gomez 4* OUT! Wright 44(23)

Virender Sehwag takes his third catch of the afternoon with a reverse cup at mid-wicket after Luke Wright mistimes a pull off the bowling of Siddharth Kaul. Raiphi Gomez then plays one of the cheekiest shots you’ll ever see, even in this format, with a nonchalant reverse dab for four to end the innings. Pune won’t be too disappointed with their efforts.

PWI 164/4 | Overs 19 | Mathews 27*, Wright 43*

6, 1, 6, 5nb, 4, 1, 1 reads Umesh Yadav’s last over as he goes for 52 runs in his four overs, picking up just one wicket. He’s had better days! To make things worse, Irfan Pathan drops a sitter at deep mid-wicket.

PWI 140/4 | Overs 18 | Mathews 19*, Wright 28*

Luke Wright gets two boundaries down to the fine-leg fence off the last two balls of Morne Morkel’s over to ruin it. Morkel finishes with figures of none for 36. Sums up the South African pacer’s tournament really.

PWI 130/4 | Overs 17 | Mathews 18*, Wright 19*

Luke Wright moves across his stumps and cracks Umesh Yadav over mid-wicket for four off a fullish delivery. Lovely shot, that!

PWI 121/4 | Overs 16 | Mathews 16*, Wright 12*

Angelo Mathews goes for the pull against Morne Morkel, finds the top edge but still manages to clear the long-off fence for six. Luke Wright then shows Mathews how it’s done as he pulls the South African pacer to fine-leg for four.

PWI 107/4 | Overs 14 | Mathews 8*, Wright 6*

Shahbaz Nadeem bowls short to Luke Wright and that’s all the 28-year-old Englishman needs to pull it wide of short mid-wicket for four.

PWI 97/4 | Overs 13 | Mathews 5*, Wright 0* OUT! Yuvraj 3(7)

Yuvraj Singh throws his wicket away with a lousy shot. The southpaw probably tried to slash at a short and wide ball from Irfan Pathan, but mistimes it and gives another catch to Virender Sehwag, this time at mid-off.

PWI 93/3 | Overs 12 | Yuvraj 3*, Mathews 1* OUT! Finch 52(34)

Aaron Finch brings up his fifty off just 31 balls with a pull to deep mid-wicket. Fine knock, this, by the Pune captain. However, totally against the run of play, he plays an awkward flick to a short ball that gets the leading edge and carries to mid-wicket where his counterpart Virender Sehwag takes the catch.

PWI 86/2 | Overs 11 | Finch 49*, Yuvraj 0*

Aaron Finch merely flicks Irfan Pathan over deep square-leg with a nice pick-up. Later, he flicks him off his legs to the fine-leg fence for four more. He’s looking extremely confident, the Pune captain.

PWI 74/2 | Overs 10 | Finch 37*, Yuvraj 0* OUT! Pandey 10(14)

Shahbaz Nadeem bowls through the defences of Manish Pandey as the batsman goes for a cut after making some room, but misses completely.

PWI 71/1 | Overs 9 | Finch 35*, Pandey 9*

Aaron Finch takes the attack to Umesh Yadav as he clobbers the Indian pacer for two sixes — over long-on and deep mid-wicket — and a boundary past mid-off. Yadav’s figures are ruined after bowling a very good first over.

PWI 54/1 | Overs 8 | Finch 18*, Pandey 9*

Shahbaz Nadeem comes into the attack and bowls a tidy over, giving just six runs and no boundary.

PWI 48/1 | Overs 7 | Finch 14*, Pandey 7*

Manish Pandey swivels and pulls Irfan Pathan’s shor-pitched delivery for a maximum.

PWI 40/1 | Overs 6 | Finch 13*, Pandey 0* OUT! Uthappa 24(20)

Umesh Yadav comes into the attack and picks up a wicket straight away. Robin Uthappa, as always, is gone after a bright start as he is beaten by the away movement and swings it straight to point.

PWI 38/0 | Overs 5 | Finch 13*, Uthappa 24*

Robin Uthappa continues to show his class with a cover-drive this time that pierces the off-side field. If only this guy could convert these starts into big ones more often.

PWI 32/0 | Overs 4 | Finch 13*, Uthappa 19*

Robin Uthappa shows his class with a glorious straight drive that beats mid-off easily. Impeccable timing!

PWI 25/0 | Overs 3 | Finch 12*, Uthappa 13*

Aaron Finch mightily pulls Siddharth Kaul over long-on for the first six of the innings. Super shot, that!

PWI 16/0 | Overs 2 | Finch 5*, Uthappa 11*

Morne Morkel comes into the match and bowls a decent over, giving just five runs to calm things down.

PWI 11/0 | Overs 1 | Finch 4*, Uthappa 7*

Pune Warriors are off to a good start with both openers getting a boundary each in the first over bowled by Irfan Pathan.
