According to the Delhi Police, a top-order batsman from one of the Indian Premier League franchises is under the scanner in the spot-fixing scam. The Delhi Police said that they would question six bookies arrested by the Goa Police in connection with case.
“During the course of investigation we got to know about the six bookies who were hiding in Goa. We shared the information with Goa police following which they were arrested.They could reveal the name of several other players,” said SN Srivastava, special commissioner, Special Cell of the Delhi Police, as reported by Deccan Chronicle.
A police source said that a team a of the Special Cell visited the house of the top-order batsman, though Srivastava denied that.
The source, posted with Special Cell, claimed that the team had met the family members of the cricketer who said that he hadn’t come home for two days.
Meanwhile, a senior police official also said that four arrested bookies had connections with the D Company and visited Dubai several times.
The official said that they were conducting raids in Hyderabad and Kolkata to nab four more bookies involved in spot-fixing.
The police official went on to say,”The bookie who is hiding in Kolkata knows several other players who spot-fixed for money. His interrogation can lead us to more players.”
