Arrested Bollywood actor Vindoo Dara Singh told the Mumbai Police that he bet on matches on behalf of Gurunath Meiyappan, the CEO and team principal of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), sources told NDTV. Sources also said Vindoo claimed that Meiyappan lost over Rs 1 crore in betting.

The Mumbai Police had reached Meiyappan’s residence on Thursday evening and asking him to meet them by 17.00 hrs on Friday. Meiyappan, who was found in Kodaikanal with his father-in-law and BCCI President N Srinivasan had asked for an extension in the deadline which was declined by the Mumbai Police. They further went on to say that there will be an arrest warrant if he fails to show up by the given time.

Meiyappan’s name was dragged into the spot-fixing scandal after Vindoo was arrested by the Mumbai Police due to his alleged links with bookies. Later on, in police custody, the actor confessed to indulging in betting. Police sources claim Mr Meiyappan will be confronted with Vindoo to verify his claims.
