Delhi Police on Friday arrested Jitendra Singh alias Jeetu who they allege is the main bookie in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2013 spot-fixing scandal.
The bookie was nabbed from Ahmedabad and will be produced at the Saket Court on Friday evening, reported Zee News.
While S Sreesanth and Ankeet Chavan managed to secure bail, the police has kept a tight leash on some of the bookies and cricketer Ajit Chandila. Chandila, who didn’t apply for bail along with other cricketers, is struggling to secure his release as the court has again deferred his hearing to July 1.
The judge has also adjourned the bail hearing of accused bookies Ramesh Vyas and Deepak Kumar. The police had requested to deny them bail as they claim the bookies were following orders from underworld dons like Dawood Ibrahim and Chota Shakeel.
