Mumbai: The unveiling of Rajasthan Royals’ (RR) new jersey for Indian Premier League (IPL) 2015 took place at Cricket Club of India (CCI) here on Monday. The RR panel included RR mentor Rahul Dravid, captain Shane Watson, and fellow players Ajinkya Rahane and Steven Smith.

Speaking at the launch, Dravid said, “We are looking forward to exciting cricket. The (RR) squad is good. It’s nice to have whole squad here. Dravid also echoed MS Dhoni when he joked about how Rahane spent so long in Australia that he nearly became a citizen. “Welcome to Rahane, who nearly became Aussie citizen!”

Watson then said, “It’s great to have World Cup final players (referring to himself, Smith, James Faulkner, and Tim Southee). It was a special occasion, the World cup was special. That was a long tournament. We enjoyed at home for a week and now we are back to action.”

Speaking on the travel, Smith said, “It’s part and parcel to travel. We all are used to it. We have been at home for a long time, and need to adjust (to Indian conditions) quickly.” IPL 2015: Kane Richardson ruled out for Rajsthan Royals

When asked about his batting position, Watson said, “The batting position will be discussed with the management and team. We have talented players, and the position won’t matter.”

Dravid went on to speak about how the Royals would miss home conditions. “Ahmadabad and Mumbai are home. We will miss playing at Jaipur. We are more used to conditions there, but we are excited to play at CCI (Brabourne Stadium).”

Watson then complimented Rahane on his fine form Down Under. “All confidence on Rahane, he had a good tour of Australia, and he will be strong after that.”

Rahane then mentioned that adjusting is important to succeed. “Have to adjust within the time we get. I’m excited; want to get my confidence here as well. I’m confident that the season will be good…spent time at home and joined team two days back.”

Watson continued, saying “The squad is exciting. We have had quality players, and this time the squad is excellent. We have quality but what’s important is to get off a good start…Last year was good. Watson then proceeded to pay tribute to the man who bowled one of the toughest spells in ICC Cricket World Cup 2015: Wahab Riaz. Smith then spoke about his favourite format. “Test cricket is the pinnacle…Need to adjust to wicket, hope that happens soon.” When asked about how much calmness matters in playing in IPL and other tournaments, Rahane admitted that it was tough to adjust.
