The Indian Premier League (IPL) auction is scheduled to be held on February 6 at Bengaluru. As many as 351 players will go under the hammer out of which eight will be the marquee players and will be having a base price ranging between Rs. 50,00,000 and Rs. 2 crores. Players like Yuvraj Singh, Kevin Pietersen, Kevin Pietersen and Shane Watson will have the maximum base price — Rs. 2 crores. Dale Steyn (Rs. 1.5 crores, Martin Guptill (Rs. 50 Lakhs), Dwayne Smith (50 Lakhs) and Aaron Finch (Rs. I crore) have also been entered into the auction as marquee players. Yuvraj Singh has gone for the maximum price in the last two editions. Delhi Daredevils (DD) acquired his services for Es. 16 crores last year. Other world class players like Michael Hussey, Mahela Jayawardene, Usman Khawaja, Hashim Amla etc. to will be players up for grabs. Ewin Lewis, who set the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) on fire recently with an excellent century has also been put under auction, with a base price of Rs. 20 Lakhs. Many players from the Indian domestic circuit will also be given a chance to prove themselves. Paras Dogra, Manpreet Juneja, Chirag Gandhi and others could be seen in action in this edition of the IPL for a base price of just Rs. 10 Lakhs.
IPL will have two new teams in this edition, replacing the banned teams Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings (CSK). They are the MS Dhoni-led Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS) and Gujarat Lions, which will be led by Suresh Raina. Dhoni and Raina have been part of CSK ever since the inception of IPL in 2008. The IPL 2016 is set to kick start April 9, 2016 and the final of the tournament will be played on May 29, 2016. Mumbai Indians (MI) are the defending champions, having beaten CSK in the final of the previous edition.
