Royal Challengers Bangalore beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by 45 runs in their first match of the Indian Premier League Season 9, thansk to a superb batting display by AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli who made the opposition bowlers toil as they send almost every other delivery to the boundary. Their target of 228 runs in 20 overs was never going to be an easy task for David Warner’s team and in the end it was an easy win for RCB. Although, Chris Gayle, couldn’t fire for them with the bat, he did fire with one of his quotes. Gayle made a hilarious comment during the innings break when he was interviewed by the official broadcaster about Sarfaraz Khan, who towards the end of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) innings, showed excellent ability with the bat in his hand and scored a brilliant 35 off just 10 balls to take his side to a massive target. He smashed Bhuvneshwar Kumar to all corners of the ground in the 19th over to make matters worse for Sunrisers Hyderabad. Sarfaraz hit five fours and two sixes in his innings. IPL 2016 Schedule, Time Table, Fixture PDF Download

However, Gayle after the RCB’s innings ended said, “Not a bad one from the team’s point of view. The action was superb. AB and Virat put up a fantastic stand and credit must go to Sarfaraz. It’s a great team effort to get to that total. We get along well. He (Sarfaraz) keeps texting me and the way he played today was fantastic. He’s too young, and he’s like a son to me. He’s definitely one for the future, and one must keep an eye on him” added Gayle.

Sarfaraz was also part of the India’s U-19 World Cup squad earlier this year and had a superb tournament with the bat, although India lost in the finals to West Indies. He made his IPL debut in 2015, last season. The hard-hitting batsman caught everyone’s attention with a cameo of 45 off just 21-balls against Rajasthan Royals at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Baengaluru. His contribution today was an even better one though.
