Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have had an impressive run so far in the ninth season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) being positioned towards the top of the points table and coach Jacques Kallis says that a good share of the success goes to the team’s bowlers. Kallis also praised Sunil Narine, one key bowler of the pack saying that he is back in actin shrugging off his bad form. The team consists of bowlers like Morne Morkel, Andre Russell, Shakib Al Hasan apart from Narine and Kallis has said that they all have been quite effective with the ball which is a positive for KKR. Kallis revealed to Times of India, “The bowlers were superb with Andre and Morne leading up-front and Shakib and Sunny (Sunil Narine) doing their stuff later. Sunny… almost four overs for 10 runs. It’s hard to fathom. He is most certainly back to his best.”
He also praised the efforts of the support staff and medical team.
“The medical team, however, have been working flat out and overtime for much of the last month as the niggles and tweaks which players inevitably pick up along the way don’t have time to heal. It is a question of ‘managing’ them rather than hoping to heal and fix them. They really are the unsung heroes of the squad, although the players do try to acknowledge their contribution. We even make a fuss of them from time to time to show our appreciation.”
KKR will next play Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at home on Monday.
