Keshav Bansal became the youngest owner in the Indian Premier League (IPL) when he acquired the newly-formed Rajkot franchise, which eventually was named Gujarat Lions. Bansal made a good beginning, ahead of the auction, when he picked Suresh Raina, Ravindra Jadeja, James Faulkner, Brendon McCullum and Dwayne Smith in the IPL player draft. He then strengthened his team by adding to his tally of good buys during the IPL Auction 2016. He has also invested in many young Indian talents and has purchased a few exciting overseas talent. Gujarat Lions will play their first match against Kings XI Punjab on Monday. Bansal has been youngest owner of tournament’s nine-year history. FULL CRICKET SCORECARD: Mumbai Indians vs Rising Pune Supergiants, IPL 2016, Match 1 at Mumbai

Intex was found on 1996 by Narendra Bansal, started selling computer electronics and later developed the enterprise into India’s largest mobile handset distributor. But Keshav started off his journey at the age of 19 and was given his first job at Intex. He was not receiving any pay and was not allowed to enter the main office. In an exclusive interview with cricket.com.au, Keshav spoke about his journey and his franchise. He said, “I started with logistics, loading and unloading boxes into the trucks. My family strongly believes we have to start from the ground, not top to bottom.”

Keshav has completed his Bachelor’s degree from Manchester Business School studying Management in accounting and finance. He considers that to be a turning point of his life, “It was the first time I was based out of my country. You are all by yourself, cleaning your room, cleaning your bathroom, cleaning your toilet, cooking your own food, washing your own clothes. It was a new experience. It grounds you – all these small steps, getting into the brand at the ground level. I’m blessed to have an amazing family. Father has always taught me to stay grounded.” READ: IPL 2016 Schedule, Time Table, Fixture PDF Download

After suspension of Chennai Super Kings, Keshav belongs to the root of Rajkot and started off with a new franchise Gujarat Lions. His cricketing idols include Sachin Tendulkar, opening batsman Virender Sehwag and the current hot-favorite Virat Kohli as he resembles Keshav or as he puts it Kohli looks like him. He is exercise addict and loves to play squash. Keshav added, “Sports definitely help you become a stronger person, both physically and internally. It does release your stress. It makes me a better individual, a better person.” He also believes the franchise has the right members to take the lead in this tournament.
