Gujarat Lions won their first game quite convincingly, chasing down 162 runs against Kings XI Punjab at Mohali. Rising Pune Supergiants also got off to a winning start, convincingly beating the current IPL champions Mumbai Indians. Both the teams are led by former CSK players, with Suresh Raina leading GL and MS Dhoni captaining RPS. FULL SCORECARD: Gujarat Lions vs Rising Pune Supergiants, IPL 2016, Match 6 at Rajkot
Gujarat Lions got their IPL campaign off to a wonderful start, beating Kings XI Punjab convincingly at Mohali. Their bowling was starred by ‘Champion’ Dwayne Bravo, who took a 4 for 22 which ensured Kings XI got only 161. In their reply, Aaron Finch played a brilliant knock of 74 for his side, which laid the platform for his team’s win. A calm 41* by Dinesh Karthik meant despite Finch getting out, Lions won the game convincingly.
Rising Pune Supergiants also had a winning start to their IPL career, destroying the Mumbai Indians at Wankhede. Choosing to bat, Mumbai Indians had a horror show at home, struggling to score runs and losing wickets. Only a late flourish by Harbhajan Singh meant they reached 121 after their 20 overs. In their reply, RPS got off to brilliant start, scoring 51 runs in the powerplay overs. Despite losing Faf du Plessis, RPS did not lose momentum as Ajinkya Rahane and Kevin Pietersen stood tall and won the game for their side.
