IPL 2016 Schedule: Indian Premier League 9 Full Time Table with Venue & Ground Details

After ICC World Twenty20 (T20) 2016 ends on April 3, the ninth season of Indian Premier League (IPL) will begin from April 9 which will end on May 29.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2016 schedule for the IPL 9 season was announced on Thursday, March 10. Mumbai Indians will take on Rising Pune Supergiants — the new team in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2016 tournament — in the very first match of the IPL 9. The match will be played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on April 9, at 8.00 PM IST. The second new team in the IPL 2016 tournament, Gujarat Lions will take on the Kings XI Punjab in the third match of IPL 9 tournament, at the PCA Stadium in Mohali on April 11 as per the IPL 9 schedule. The cricket season has begun with ICC World Twenty20 (T20) 2016 underway which ends on April 3. Soon after, the ninth season of Indian Premier League (IPL) begins from April 9 which will end on May 29. There are total eight teams participating in this season with two new franchise of Rising Pune Supergiants and the Gujarat Lions as Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals are exempted from playing for two years from IPL. Apart from these the usual teams include Delhi Daredevils, Mumbai Indians, Kings XI Punjab, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore. “All the top players from around the world will be seen in action this year at the IPL 2016. This season the IPL will be played at 10 venues — Mohali, Delhi, Mumbai, Nagpur, Pune, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Rajkot and Raipur,” Rajeev Shukla, IPL chairman said in a release.

Kolkata Knight Riders will play their first match on the next day, against Delhi Daredevils at their home ground in Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The KKR vs DD match will be played at 8.00 PM Indian Standard Time.

It is believed that there will be 11 venues, including three second centers – Nagpur, Raipur and Kanpur — of three teams. Gujarat Lions were expected to play a few games at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur which was recently inspected by the IMG. Kings XI Punjab have been allotted Nagpur as their second center with Mohali holding three matches.

Delhi Daredevils will play three home games at Raipur, though initially the home ground Feroz Shah Kotla will be considered. Should the DDCA fail to get the required clearances, it might shift the games to Indore. Mumbai Indians, Rising Pune Supegiants, Kolkata Knight Riders, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bangalore teams will play all their games in their home centers. The schedule for IPL was postponed due to Mahashivratri on Monday and was to be announced on Tuesday, but it was eventually announced on Thursday night.
