Kolkata Knight Riders have called in Australia pace man Shaun Tait into their squad to replace the injured John Hastings. Tait had joined the KKR squad in Kolkata on Wednesday and was present at training session days prior to KKR’s next Indian Premier League (IPL) match against Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS). Tait went unsold in the player auction earlier in the year, priced at Rs 1.5 crore. Hasting had only played two matches for KKR before he suffered an ankle injury which ruled him out of the ninth edition of IPL. ALSO READ: Umesh Yadav: Action more suited full length outswingers

Tait came in three days early and joined the KKR squad to feel acclimatized and match ready. Tait went through some drill but did not participate in any kind of bowling during the session as reported by ESPNCricinfo. Tait last played in the IPL for the now banned Rajasthan Royals. Tait was recalled for Australia’s T20 series against India in January. Tait had been called to the side after five years as he last played in the year 2011 against India. Tait was also part of the inaugural season of Pakistan Super League playing for Peshawar Zalmi. He is also set to feature for Glamorgan in the England’s domestic T20 championship.

Tait enjoyed a good season with the ball playing the fifth season of Big Bash League (BBL) with the Adelaide Strikers. Tait helped the team to reach the semi-final.
