Six persons were arrested for their alleged involvement in betting in IPL matches, police said today. Ravi Kumar, Govinda, Pradeep Kumar, Arun Kumar, Vikram and Monu Raghav were arrested yesterday during an IPL match, they said. Four mobile phones, a TV set and Rs 2000 cash were seized from the spot, police said, adding, a case has been registered. SRH won yesterday’s IPL game against MI by 7 wickets. The Indian Premier League (IPL) is in its ninth season currently. The tournament began on 9th April. The opening ceremony took place on 8th April. It was David Warner, the SRH skipper who played a magnificent innings to take his side to their first win of the IPL season 9 after MI were restricted to 142-6 in 20 overs. Meanwhile, this year the IPL saw two new teams – Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS) and Gujarat Lions (GL) enter the tournament after the suspension of IPL franchises Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals. After the drought in Maharashtra, the Bombay High Court had slammed the Mumbai Cricket Association and the BCCI about organising of IPL matches in the state. The court had asked cricketing bodies – “How can you waste water like this? Are people more important or IPL? How can you be so careless? This is criminal wastage. You know the situation in Maharashtra.”
After 12 matches of the IPL, Gujarat Lions stay at the top of the points table and each team has won atleast one match in the tournament so far. KKR will face KXIP in the 13th match of the IPL tonight.
