Mohali: Kings XI Punjab wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha, who played an important knock during his side’s victory against the Delhi Daredevils last evening, said that it was his side’s all round performance which won them the crucial match in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
“We have been trying to ensure that the batting and bowling clicks well, which wasn’t happening. There was something or the other amiss towards the end. Today however, we clicked as a unit in both the departments which helped. The bowlers – Mohit (Sharma), Stoinis and Sandy (Sandeep Sharma) bowled well towards the end as well. As a batting unit too we did well; we scored a bit more than what has been the par score here,” Saha was quoted as saying by iplt20.com. “If batting and bowling units click then fielding automatically clicks. We have been playing well as a team in the last two-three matches,” he added. Saha, in his blistering knock of 52 runs of just 33 balls, smashed seven boundaries and also shared a crucial 58-run partnership with man of the match MP Stoinis (52) for the third wicket during the IPL clash at the PCA Stadium last evening. It was Saha’s innings, along with that of Stoinis, that propelled the Punjab team to a total of 181. Live Cricket Scorecard: Mumbai Indians vs Sunrisers Hyderabad, IPL 2016 Match 37 at Visakhapatnam
In reply, the Delhi Daredevils failed to counter Kings Xi’s bowling attack and were restricted to 172 in their stipulated 20 overs. Stoins bagged three wickets while Sandeep and Mohit chipped in with a wicket each. Reflecting on his knock, Saha said he was quite happy to score in his side’s winning cause and hoped to continue to contribute in the upcoming matches as well. “Yes, feeling good because we won the match. If you contribute to a winning cause then you definitely enjoy it more. Hopefully I continue to do more for the team,” he said.
