Yusuf Pathan defended bowling attack of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) after his match-winning knock that helped Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) go past RCB in Match 30 of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2016 on Monday. Yusuf has suggested that the current struggle of RCB with the ball is just a tough phase and the side has quality bowlers to take their side off it in the upcoming matches in the ninth edition of IPL. Yusuf scored a fantastic 29-ball 60 during KKR’s chase of 186 as his side beat the hosts by 5 wickets. He went on to refuse with Sunil Gavaskar’s thoughts that Virat Kohli’s team had a “popatwadi” bowling attack. According to Times of India, Yusuf who will be seen in action on Wednesday against Kings XI Punjab, added, “No team can compete at such a big stage like the IPL with a weak bowling attack, or for that matter, even a weak batting unit. It could be Gavaskar’s view so I don’t want to comment on that.
“RCB have some quality bowlers, like Varun Aaron for example, who plays Test cricket for India. There are other good international bowlers in their team. They might not be clicking too well at the moment, but it is just a phase. If their bowling starts working well for them, they will go on to do great things in the later part of the tournament,” he said.
Yusuf shared a 96-run stand with Andre Russell during their match against RCB. He struck six fours and three sixes and he stuck around with Russell when KKR required another 81 runs with six overs to spare.
