Currently the dynamic between the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and International Cricket Council (ICC) are not too cordial. In an attempt to ease out tension between both the agencies, the Committee of Administrators (CoA) have called upon ICC President Shashank Manohar to attend the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017 final to be held at Hyderabad on May 21. This comes at a time when both ICC and BCCI are at loggerheads after the former drastically cut down revenue sharing percent to the BCCI last month. Manohar was also the Chairman of BCCI prior to his appointment as the ICC President. IPL 2017: RPS owner rubbishes rumours of buying stakes in Rajasthan Royals

A TOI report quoted a BCCI source as saying, “The invitation has gone to Manohar on Tuesday. This is a good opportunity for the board officials to sit across the table and sort out all the differences with ICC in terms of finance and governance models.” The BCCI wants to take Manohar in confidence first before meeting up with other stakeholders in the ICC.

Some members in the BCCI who attended last week’s SGM are of the view that Manohar’s outline of the revenue model can keep the game of cricket sustained across the globe in equal measures.

The ICC currently is ready to pay an additional USD 100 million to the already earmarked USD 293 million. But it is still a massive cut from the USD 573 million that the BCCI was getting earlier.
