In Match 35 of IPL 2017, Gujarat Lions (GL) will welcome Mumbai Indians (MI) to Saurashtra Cricket Association (SCA) Stadium in Rajkot on Saturday. GL still stand a chance to enter the IPL 10 playoffs as they will need to win all four of their remaining six matches. The inclusion of Ankit Soni in the previous match worked wonders for GL. The live cricket streaming of the match will be available on Hotstar. Also, the live telecast of the match will be available on Sony Six and Sony Six HD, along with Hindi, Bengali, Tamil and Telugu commentary on Sony ESPN and Sony ESPN HD, while SET MAX will telecast exclusively in Hindi. GL’s bowling line-up has been timid and was hit a further blow with Dwayne Bravo being ruled out for remainder season. Irfan Pathan did not get a game in the previous match and this time around GL would hope to bolster their bowling options further. Andrew Tye has emerged as a lynchpin while Ravindra Jadeja, Basil Thampi and James Faulkner have complimented him well. However, MI have innumerable batting options where each one have of them have proven to be match-winners. Considering the fact that conditions at Rajkot favour batsmen, MI would look at this opportunity to inch closer to the IPL 2017 playoffs.
MI have maintained their momentum through the tournament with the Pandya brothers (Hardik and Krunal), Nitish Rana, Parthiv Patel and Jos Buttler’s combination alongwith Kieron Pollard’s finishing touches. Mitchell McClenaghan, Harbhajan Singh and Jasprit Bumrah have been exceptional with their bowling. Mitchell Johnson has also been decent in absence of Lasith Malinga.
The overall record, however, favours GL who thrashed MI in the last season. However, MI found winning ways at their den the last time these teams met in IPL 2017.
